A Little About Our Story :
Hello, We are the Millers. Carl, Mari, Sierra, Caleb and Cooper. We are missionaries to single moms and their children!
Carl and I met in Dallas, Texas in 1996 when Carl was an associate Pastor traveling with Pastor Tommy Barnett, lead Pastor of Phoenix First Assembly. I, on the other hand, was a student at Latin American Bible Institute (now Christ Mission College) in San Antonio, Texas. Nobody could've seen what God had in store for us. A year later we were married and now have three beautiful kids, Sierra, Caleb, and Cooper. Soon after, we moved to Springfield, Missouri to work with Convoy of Hope and three years later, became AG World Missionaries serving in Mexico to minister to street children.
The foundation for Flourish Single Mom Care was laid down the minute we started ministering to the street kids of Mexico City. The Lord breathed life into our outreach, and we found ourselves falling more and more in love with our work and with every child we encountered. We soon realized that to have greatest impact, we needed to intervene where these children families disintegrated, 99% of the time it was a single mom family, so we redirected our focus. Carl comes from a single mother household and he understood the need for a ministry that would specifically cater to the needs of these battered children and their mothers.
God used a single mother named Angelica to stir up a fire to serve many others like her. Angelica was a cleaning lady working to support herself and her two children. They had been abandoned by their father, leaving Angelica and the children to fend for themselves. She later surrendered to Jesus, and I thank God for the opportunity we had to share the gospel with her and her children. I will never forget that she was an instrument that He used to guide us into this ministry.
Where Did Flourish Single Mom Care Start?
In 2010 we needed to return home to Springfield, Missouri to accommodate the health concerns of one of our children. Upon arriving, we began to seek God on our next move. We knew that our mission to reach single mothers and their children was not over, but what we didn't know was how God was wanting us to continue this work in our own country. We became involved with a local ministry serving the needy through a food pantry and single moms began to walk through our doors once again. Soon after, we began to partner with different ministries who specialized with single mother ministries and started our first and very own single mom's small group. Two and a half years after the initial launch of this group, we felt a strong need to put all we had learned during our journey on paper in order to use that knowledge for future outreaches and to help other groups that would eventually come into fruition. After months of seeking God for direction, endless research, and many hours of typing late into the night, we launched the Flourish Single Mom Care Ministry in September of 2015.
Our Combined Mission
Our mission is to demonstrate the love of Christ to every single mom we meet and to assist single moms in a life changing experience in a local congregation by using the Flourish manuals as a way of training, supporting, and equipping local pastors and their churches with the necessary tools needed to reach out to this forgotten demographic.
We are to love well because Christ commands us to do so:
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:12–13, ESV).
We seek to see single moms changed, so that we may bring each person to maturity in Christ:
“He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me” (Colossians 1:28–29, NIV).

“Sarah is a single mom of 4. Her oldest, River was 12 years old when she began cutting herself.
Around this time our church started baking and delivering cookies for our single mom’s and River’s family was on our list.
A relationship developed with Sarah and she started attending church.
One night, River was experiencing depression and felt the need to cut herself. She woke her mother up and told her what she had done. Sarah gently led her daughter into the bathroom and stepped into the tub with River and began to clean the blood off her body. Sarah was beside herself with fear and a broken heart for her daughter. She held River tightly as they begin to call out to the Lord. The more they prayed the more they cried together. Chains were broken that night and a new bond began to develop between mother and daughter.
Today, Sarah and all four of her children are regular attendees at our church and all were baptized. They still have struggles as a family but the love and support of our Flourish Single Mom Care ministry and the body of Christ has given them hope and strength to carry on.”

"thank God for all the help, the support, and the encouragement this ministry has provided for me in those times when I needed it the most."
Being a mom is to be celebrated and the work that, Flourish does for single moms is touching lives and making a difference. This group is worthwhile. It benefits mommas and the child(ren)…in my case, it saved me from myself and it gave me a minute to breathe without disruption while offering my child entertainment in a safe environment as well. I am forever grateful and I pray for all moms, even dads and especially for the children and thank all those who support and are involved with, Flourish Single Moms Care groups because of the sincerity and for wholeheartedly trying to make a difference in the world for the better…even if it is, one mom at a time. May God Bless you all.
Sincerely, Veronica Silver
My name is Tamara De Los Santos. I am a 31-year-old single mom of 2 beautiful kids. Their father and I were so heavenly involved in drugs that our relationship disintegrated and I eventually left him. I realize now that I was endangering my kids and I was not a suitable parent. I did well for a little while as I attended church, but I began using again and relied on the drugs to make money. This is when life spiraled out of control,
I began losing everything. I lost the relationships with my family, my job, my vehicle, my sanity and eventually my kids. After all this, it pushed me to a point where I realized I needed to attend rehab and get my life together.
My heart was broken. I was known as a drug addict and I always knew God but I couldn’t pray because I felt like I wasn’t worthy enough of His forgiveness. I was so ashamed and my self-esteem was the lowest it ever was.
Eventually, my relationship with God strengthened as I learned to forgive myself. After 7 months of rehab, I finally came home to my children and I was given another chance to do life right. As I continued to work hard on fixing my mistakes and rebuilding my relationships with my family and children, I heard about Flourish and that it was an outreach for single moms just like me.
I didn’t know anyone even cared about people like us. The outreaches were amazing. As soon as I drove up to the building I began to feel the love. I felt beautiful and accepted. These are things I hadn't felt in years.
As a single mom, it's common to be rejected or judged by others. Flourish made me realize that my God is a forgiving God and he hasn't rejected me. He loves me more than any man could ever love me and I know I don't have to seek the love of a man as long as I have the love of the one true King. Flourish gave me the ability to connect with other single moms and hear their struggles. We all shared our fears and encouraged each other to allow God to move in our lives. Now as I attend church, I no longer allow the distraction of others' judgments to interfere with my time with God. God knows my past and He has forgiven me. As long as I am under God's direction, I know my children will follow and that He will provide for us.
I am forever thankful to Flourish for the love and acceptance they have showed me. This has truly helped my connection with God. I turn to my Savior anytime I feel lonely or just need help to get through the day. God is now my Best Friend!
Thank you Flourish!
Tamara De Los Santos
"Pure religion, undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world."
James 1:27 (KJ21)
"Single moms and their children are the modern dynamic equivalent to orphans and widows, as they are more vulnerable and often forgotten. Let us not abandon our responsibility as Christians to serve and care for the children of God who do not yet know Him."
